Death is Irreversible Cessation of Vital Functions
Clinical death is declared when the heart beat and breathing have stopped, pupil becomes fixed and do not react to light. This is considered as near or apparent death and it may be reversed. Biological death is permanent brain dearth due to lack of oxygen. This death is final. Death may be expected and occurs when one or more organs or systems fails to maintain homeostasis. Sudden death occurs when the flow of blood to the brain ceases. This might be due to serious haemorrhage, myocardial infarction, cardiac arrest, or suicide. Brain death is defined as permanent functional death of the centres in the brainstem that control breathing, heart rate, and other vital reflexes. Brain death (biological death) occurs four to six minutes after clinical death.
